13/14 December
Well the old boys Xmas do lived up to expectations. Annual quiz was
won by the 'youngsters' captain by club chairman Rabbit. Bill Dean captained
the "oldies" who went down by one point. Pool in The Stag
was dominated by Andy Clayden but the singing in the Thatchers didn't
reach its normal appalling standards. Jay and West Ham came along for
drinks after the meal. Pubs throughout the village the quietest in living
memory (and that's a long time for some of the attendees!!!)
Reserves bash started off at the Railway and then it was taxis to Hertford
(details a little sketchy so if anyone wants to reveal any details email
andylines@aol.com!!)
Onto the footy. Reserves had great win at Sheering and now face an area
semi
final game in January. Sundays battled back from a 4-1 half-time deficit
to lose an 11 goal thriller 6-5. Highlight being Matt Danbury's hat-trick.
Firsts got a bit of a doing at the hands of a strong Quendon Athletic
side.
6/7 December
Two
consecutive Christmas dos at the Railway Inn - Dec 13th and 20th (Reserves
couldn't
agree on dates!) All welcome. The Xmas raffle will be drawn on the 20th
at 5pm - sell your
tickets !!
Pegasus (invitation only) old boys do is on Sunday 14th for the pub
crawl of the year (full
match report next week). Rabbit is NOT doing the quiz and will Bill
Gleed break his duck and
win his first quiz since 1978!
On to the footy ..... Firsts had a great win on Saturday highlight being
Mark Vintinner's
hat-trick.
Reserves were 1-1 apiece with 15 mins to go against Heath Rovers when
their linesman
controversially flagged off a goal after a shot hit the post. Within
seconds they went up
the other end and grabbed what turned out to be the winner. Disappointing
but not the
greatest of performances from the Res.
29/30 November
What a weekend!
Three wins out of three and many club members at John Deamer's secret
Ruby
Wedding party at the Village Hall.
So what first ... details of the footy or the boozing?? Yes in traditional
Heath style it's the
partying that wins!!
Deamer arrived at the party and after sinking some ale sang his old
favourite Peggy Sue before a
packed Hall.
Wife Chris was reduced to tears by the surprise party organised by son
John (former
Heath striker who played for League side in the early 90s) and daughter
Clare. Was a cracking
night with many old faces there including Bill "Offside Sugar"
Dean, Bill "Defected to Broad
Oak in 84 and never forgotten" Gleed, Dave Brown, Stewie Perry,
Mike Bamber and others. Carol
Jones niece of Heath legend Bill Bruty, who died in '82 was there (if
you look at index page she's in
the picture of Heath fans on the front) and Margaret Perry whose husband
Sugar was obviously
stalwart of the club for so many decades. Ian "Brains" Barnett
strutted his
stuff on the dance floor and large amounts of ale was taken - current
players in attendance
included Matt Danbury, Stewart Jackson, Spencer Bull and Ian "The
Cat" Bartram.
Now on to the footy .... cracking display from Firsts saw them win away
at Salvation
Army thanks to two goals from Chris and one from Aaron. Res win top
of the table battle
with North Weald Res. Craig Chapman was man of the match and goals from
Gary Owen
and Shane Breet sealed victory. Gary blotted his copybook by getting
sent off after
what one spectator said "was a great display by a centre forward".
Sundays had a good win over bottom of the table Bentfields ... two goals
from Matt
Danbury and one from Jackson (not Stuart!!) saw us win on a cold rainy
morning.
22/23 November
Sundays game called off after the players had already
arrived at the game.
James Bush had a cracking game in goal for the Reserves pulling off
some great saves in the Essex
Junior Trophy Tie. Spencer Bull grabbed another goal and two from Gary
Owen saw a 3-1 win.
Firsts went down bravely to strong Alemite side. But Brad Pammen very
pleased with the
performance. Heath took the lead and dominated much of the first half
before Alemite equalised
just before the break. The visitors were the stronger side in the second
half and took a 5-2 lead before
Andy Bartram's goal late on, from a well worked move, saw the final
score 5-3.
15/16 November
Cracking performance from the Reserves saw them beat
a strong Sheering Reserves side
3-1 'down the road'. Two goals from Spenny Bull - one a brilliant volley
(yes, you did read
that correctly!!) helped the Heath to victory with Tony Gammer grabbing
the other.
What a game for the firsts. Brilliant performance saw them go down 5-4
to North Weald
despite being down to 10 men for the last 20 minutes and the victim
of a dodgy
refereeing decision. Heath took the lead twice through Mark Vintinner
- being pegged
back on each occasion. Then the ref gave a free-kick for an alleged
back pass from which
Weald scored. To his credit the official later admitted his mistake
but it had a huge impact on game. Weald grabbed
another to go in at half-time 4-2 up. A goal from 'Banger' made it 4-3
but Weald scored
a fifth thanks to a long range strike from the half way line that sailed
over Ian "The Cat"
Bartram's head. Mark "Jimmy Greaves" Vintinner scored to complete
his hat-trick. Heath then hit the bar
and forced the weald keeper to make a string of saves but just couldn't
get an
equaliser. Manager Pammen very pleased with performance despite the
result.
1/2 November
Penalty from 'keeper James Bush highlight of the Reserves
win over Frontiers. Six
goals saw a comfortable win. Veteran Keith Tovee grabbed a goal for
the firsts
who went down at home to Langley.
Sundays had cracking ding-dong game with Birchanger. After going 3-up
at half-time
Birchanger battled back with two goals but a breakaway from Chris "West
Ham"
Bishop saw us to a 4-2 win.
27 Oct
Good wins for both Sunday sides. Sunday
side play well against strong Radwinter
team and are 2-1 up with 25 mins to go but superior fitness tells in
the end.
There are Heath players wherever you go! In a crowd of 82,000 at Wembley
for the
American football game on Sunday - who should find themselves sitting
next to each
other but former Sundays manager Andy Lines and Dougie Andrews who played
for us under Carl McAvoy. Dougie recalled how he once scored 3 own goals
in a
game which - even for a Heath player - sounds a 'bit special' !!! Dougie
who used
to live in Broomfields now lives away from the village and passed on
his best wishes
to those who remember him from his time at the club.

Quick match report
Heath go top after 5 games in the Sunday Premier!
Another hard fought encounter on Sunday at the Heath with Northgate
End taking a first half lead following a goal from an old adversary
... Colin Filer!
A good shake up in the dressing room at half time from manager Jacko
and captain Issako and the team came out fighting and quickly equalised
with a fine team goal finished by Mark Vintinner. Chopper smith and
Mark V added his second and side's third to lead the Heath home to a
comfortable win.
13 Oct
Highlight of the weekend was Ian "Bart-netti" Bartram (geddit!!!)
in goal
for Sundays. The golden oldie took his place between the sticks to help
us a narrow 3-2 win over Bentfields.
6 Oct
We're "singin' in the rain" !! White Roding made the short
journey to Calves Pasture
confident of victory after their 6-1 win over the Heath in a pre season
friendly.
But they left empty-handed as Heath won 1-0 in torrential rain. Thanks
to Bart for
refereeing the match in a fair and even fashion despite some abuse from
the
sidelines!
The Reserves battled to a rare 0-0 result on Saturday. Craig Chapman,
again, was
star of the show in a game of few chances.
Firsts played much better this week after
their 5-1 loss v Loughton seven days ago but went down 2-1 to a strong
Alemite
side.
Struggling for a team manager Brad Pammen managed to get 11 players
out thanks
to Spenny Bull coming up from the firsts. Going in 1-0 at half-time
playing into a
strong wind looked good for the second period. But an Alemite goal put
paid to
that and despite a Vintinner goal Heath couldn't make a breakthrough
for the equaliser.
Given the circumstances it was a promising performance.
30 September
Sheering have always been our biggest rivals - the local derby everyone
looked
forward to the most. In the 'old days' the fixture list was released
for the whole
season at the start of September and Sheering at home was the key match
of
the year. Often it was held on Boxing Day and in the 50s there could
be a crowd of
400 plus with everyone paying to get in! For a while Hatfield Broad
Oak became
rivals but in recent years White Roding emerged on to the scene. For
many years their sides played in different leagues. But now we look
forward to this Sunday's clash
between the Heath and Roding in the Premier Division of the North West
Essex Sunday
League. Roding will start hot favourites - they were runners up last
year but newly promoted Heath will be hoping to get off to a flying
start.
27/28
September
Craig Chapman stars as man of the match as Reserves beat Herts
Rangers 3-1. Goals for Shane Brett, Tony Gammer and Stuart
Cowell give us victory. Firsts have just a solitary Mark Vintinner
goal as they crash 5-1 to a strong Loughton side. No game for Sundays.
Ian Bartram sorted out some of the plumbing issues in the
changing rooms ... thanks Bart. But still a few things to sort out in
coming weeks.
New gates should be installed in the next month.

The hard work from a team of people over the summer is paying off. The
new drainage system is working well and the showers in the home
changing rooms have met with widespread approval. The new roller
has proved a major plus with the pitch looking in as good 'nick' as
ever.
Thanks once again to all those who gave up their time to help with
the improvements.
20/21 Sept
Two cracking wins for both sides on Saturday. Both scored five as wins
over Birchanger and Thaxted were recorded. Sundays had a tough
game against BS Swifts and went down 2-0.
First team manager Brad Pammen delighted with new signings who "played
out of their skins". Two fantastic goals from flying winger Aaron
Davis the highlight of a great team performance with "veteran"
Mark
Vintinner (!) grabbing another brace.
13/14th Sept
Sunday side beat Manuden 2-0 in a cracking opening day match.
Despite being under the cosh for much of the game the Heath dug
in brilliantly to pick up two points. Jay Issako was inspirational
in midfield with the entire back four putting in great performances.
Heath went in 1-0 up at the break thanks to a penalty save from
Dave Pyle and a Chris Bishop goal. Manuden pushed strongly in the
second half but a 70th minute goal from Mark Vintinner sealed the
points.
Spenny Bull scored a first half opener for the Reserves but they were
pulled back by Thorley Park who scored either side of half-time
for a 2-1 win.

2007/8
Season
Jacko's match report.
Sundays won 5-2 at home to Caesars' Palace (should have had a bet on
that one!!) West ham scored 4 and Matt Danbury got a tap in! The games
most controversial moment will always be remembered though for a penalty
decision given against us by our own linesman and assistant manager
John Deamer against Jay Isacco for hand ball in his own area. The ball
bounced up at Jay as he was running away from John's position on the
far side touch line and as he tried to chest it down under no pressure
from anyone it could be said that he partly used his arm albeit his
arm was by his side the whole time and although the referee waved play
on our linesman continually flagged until the opposition managed to
convince the ref to at least talk to him and hence their second goal
arrived from the spot. In the pub after the game it was noted that John
continually accepted free beers from the opposition and so the million
dollar question was asked of John 'If we were 2-1 up in a cup semi final
would he still of flagged?' his answer was a muted reply into his beer
that Danny Sweeney would be promoted as our linesman for all future
cup games!

Leaving aside the Danbury scandal Reserves battled
well against strong Quendon side who double up as Saffron Walden Res.
Niel Churchill penalty and Christian Bush grabbed our goals.
Firsts squeaked through to the next round of the cup thanks to a dramatic
penalty shoot out against Heath Rovers. A far from convincing display
saw the Heath only break down Rovers defence in 120 minutes of football
and it all went to pens with Heath running out 5-4 victors.

Jan 27/28
First team continue winning ways with solid 2-0 win over Birchanger.
Goals from Mark Vintinner and Liam Clark seal the points. Reserves slump
to 2-0 defeat with disappointing performance against Langley at the
Maypole.
Sundays beat Manuden again in tough but entertaining game at home. Matt
Danbury scores from free-kick to ensure victory 10 minutes from the
end.
Brad's half-term report: "The 1st team are
having a fair season year and it is in our hands if we want the title
or not. With the return of "Kevin the Kettle" and Liam "the
man destroyer" Clark back from their bans the 1sts have a great
opportunity to push hard for the title.
We have big games left in this season and a possible four points can
be taken from the league leaders, we also have Alemite and Risden to
still play once we could really put the pressure on.
We also have added strength coming back into the side with Mini and
Steve available again for selection
All we need is "Little and Large" Max and Ryan to start firing
on all cylinders
Jan 20/21 Both Saturday sides' games fall victim
to the weather. Sundays keep up impressive league form with a 5-0 win
over Abbey Rangers. Dassy grabs two, Jacko (!!!) the other two and Barry
Leutchford scores a cracker.
Moose becomes a daddy ... congratulations to all the family.
Jan 6/7
Sweet revenge. Dassy and Danbury score the goals that help Heath to
3-1 cup win over Manuden. Moose plays despite missus due to give birth.
Great result after the disappointment of cup defeat befoore Christmas.
Happy New Year!
Firsts game called off.
Reserves start year with 2-0 win. Goals from Paul Crane and Sandy Poole
start year with a bang.

16/17 December
Thanks to the guys who helped cleared the water off the pitch to enable
game to go ahead. Solid performance from firsts against a reasonable
Debden side secured the points. Reserves game called off.
Brad's view ....:
We struggled for a team again this week, which put the 1st teams heads
down we started off really bad and was put under a lot of pressure,
Shaun pulled off some cracking saves to keep us in the game, we then
scored against the run of play with a great bit of one touch football
again Debden hammer our goal, Spencer then got injured and Mark Vint
came on with his first attack scored. Half time was well needed for
the
heath but still came out and was not firing on all cylinders we scored
again to make it 3 nil but still Debden pressed hard 2 big defensive
mistakes cost us 2 goals which put the score to 3- 2 it was only then
did we start to play and ended up going on to win 4-2 credit to Debden
who didn't give up the fight but a brave solid performance for the Heath
18/19 November
He might be too old to play any more but when it comes to pool ....
The 'killer'pool game played in The Stag on Sunday was won by Andy Lines
after a sudden-death play-off with Manny Hermitage. Sunday side storm
to victory over Roding with a plethora (that means 'lots' gents) of
subs. Dassy scores one and almost scores another with an ill-intentioned
header!
Saturday side robbed of game by ref who gets into a 'muddle o'er the
puddle' and calls game off.
Reserves show fantastic spirit to win 3-2 thanks to penalty from Niel
- why does he spell his name that way! - Churchill. Other goals from
Spenny and Sandy.
*Since we were last with you .... couple of managerial
changes to confirm. Of course Stuart "Bully" Bull marches
on as the successful reserves team manager but a re-shuffle elsewhere.
Brad Pammen is now in charge of the First team and Stewart Jackson now
runs the Sunday side ably assisted by club president John Deamer.
Weekend of 11/12 November.
Firsts march on with a six-of-the-best tonking of White Roding. Mark
Vintinner leads the way with a hat-trick with goals from Liam Clark,
Nathan Hayes and Steve Waldren completing the rout.
Reserves struggle against Salvation Army. Last season we were down to
ten men against them but came to win so such luck this time round. Centre
half Danny Innes sent off.
Sundays pull back from early goal deficit to get draw against Sawbo
Town.
Reasonable start for all sides. Full details later.

CUP WINNERS
ooh-Bully-Bully
Brilliant second half comeback at Bishop's Stortford's Woodside Park
ground saw Reserves pick up the cup. Captain Aaron Collins lifted the
trophy in front of dozens of cheering Heath fans.
Team: Bush, St Bull, Churchill, Collins,Rhodes, Pasquale (sub Meadows
82), Fielding (sub Christofe 45), Duffy, Poole, Sp Bull (Sub A Lines
76), Senik.
The cup returned to the Heath for the first time in seven years. Reserves
started sluggishly playing too many long balls. Booking for Spenny and
Duffy seemed harsh but a very young Thorley were clearly the better
side and deserved their one goal lead. Second half was a completely
different story. Sub Steve Christofe started to dominate the midfield
and Pasquale Genco pulled us level on 55 minutes with a low shot in
the corner. Six minutes later we were ahead when Leigh Duffy volleyed
home from ten yards. But the best was yet to come when Riz hit a 30
yard scorcher over the keeper to make it 3-1. Veteran Andy Lines came
on for his 15 minutes of glory 25 years to the very weekend after his
first final for the Reserves - and Danny Meadows got 8 minutes - longer
than his last cup final appearance! Difficult to single out indivduals
- great team performance. Celebrations at The Stag went long into the
night. Thanks to all the fans who turned up to support the side especially
the family of late club chairman Sugar Perry and Paul Crane's parents
- even though he wasn't playing as he was away in Florida. Old boys
Martin Rickett and Ian "Brains" Barnett were there along with
Ian Bartram and Family. And thanks to Chairman Richard 'Rabbit' Lines
for providing after match champagne.
Forget Jose Mourinho: STAND UP FOR THE SPECIAL
ONE - player-manager STUART BULL.
The party went on on Sunday. Treasurer Mick Briscoe celebrated his 35th
wedding anniversary (how did you put up with him that long Janet!!!
) and many old players including Bill Gleed, Andy Clayden, Danny Sweeney
and Mike Bamber joined in the cup celebrations.
WEEKEND of April 22/23
Rabbit breaks down - not emotionally ! - on his way to North Weald -
in Sawbridgeworth for some bizarre reason - and turns up to be sub.
Firsts battle back from being goal down for 3-3 draw.
Makeshift reserve side go 2 up in the first half. Quick thinking form
Luke Plane led to the first goal after a quick throw in opened up the
Weald defence. Great header from Aaron Collins gave us 2 goal advantage.
Andy Lines hobbled off after injuring both legs followed by Paul Crane
who hobbled off after injuring both ankles! Weald pulled back two late
goals but draw was fair result.
WEEKEND of April 15/16th
Ten man Reserves come from goal down to get to Junior Int-Div Final.
Brilliant defensive
performance after Aaron sent off after just 20 minutes. Goal down shortly
after half-time
but two goals - both errors by Salvation Army keeper - saw brave Heath
side rewarded
for their determination. Long celebrations in The Stag after the match.
WEEKEND of April 8/9th
Cup Final heart-break in extra time. Reserves battle hard in dour final
but lose out to two
late goals. Danny Meadows and opponent sent off after just five minutes
leave both sides with
just ten men. Chances were few and far between but the Heath's best
was missed by Steve
Christophe.
WEEKEND of March 25/26th.
On March 25th 1980 a spotty 15-year-old teenager ran out for the Reserves
at North Weald in a 6-0 defeat on his Heath debut. Exactly 26 years
later an overweight, unfit 41-year-old veteran ran out on the same pitch
and helped the Reserves get to another semi-final. Andy Lines only lasted
an hour but did his bit! Great performance by the Reserves including
some fantastic saves from Bushy see them through after Weald pepper
the penalty area with long throws. Danny Meadows sets some sort of record
for taking 30 minutes to get ready for the match - missing the start.
Twas a long boozy weekend on the Heath. Friday
night saw the quiz with 100 people attending in the village hall. Special
thanks to Nikki Bull for being quizmaster - Spenny, Stewart, Jacko and
Trish for all their hard work. Mick Briscoe's team won - despite having
nine members !! - an appeal to overturn the result was turned down.
Danny Sweeney's team drew special praise for having a team member who
shouted out the answers. While Brad and Jay's team failed to gain a
single point and left to go clubbing after the third round!!
On Saturday it was back down the 'Horse' for Rabbit's 40th celebrations.
They went long into the night and many old faces were there.
The Reserves still don't know who they will face in the Division One
Cup Final at Stortford's ground on Sat April 8th. Because of a row over
eligibility the League has ordered North Weald Res and The Marne to
replay their game this Saturday.
WEEKEND of March 18/19th.
Reserves cap great season by reaching Division One Cup Final. Goal from
Paul Crane in tense match against Potter Street Reserves sees victory.
Now for the final at Bishop's Stortford's ground.
Firsts pull off good win on terrible pitch at
Birchanger. Goals from Max, Barry and Ryan Hughes give us a win. Great
defensive performances from Brad and Bert help see off Birchanger's
late onslaught.
Sunday side pick up point in 1-1 draw.
WEEKEND of March 11/12th.
Two goals from Jacko and one from Spenny give Sunday side win at Littlebury.
Both Saturday sides slump to poor defeats. Towler grabs the goal as
the Reserves go down by the odd goal in three
to Alemite Res.
WEEKEND of March 4/5th
5-1 v Sheering does life get much better !! Great performance sees firsts
continue their
march for a runners up place. Reserves suffer defeat at Roding.
WEEKEND of Feb 25/26th.
Another good weekend. Despite struggling for players Reserves win their
cup quarter final 4-1 even after going a goal down within five minutes.
Strong wind caused problems for both sides but Res played the better
football and fully deserved victory. Firsts get another good point against
champions elect Risden. Vinny grabs goal and a rare one from Barry give
us 2-2n draw. Sundays struggle to get side too and Spenny has to go
in goal (!!) But battling performance sees a point secured against Grange.
Big turn out in the Stag after the game from both sides.
WEEKEND of Feb 18/19th
Firsts go down to Alemite in a game marred by an appalling late tackle
on Paul Vincent. He hobbled off but luckily appears to have escaped
serious injury. Reserves struggle against The Star and leave the Paddocks
with just a point thanks to a Spencer Bull goal.
Weakened Sunday side get heavy beating from young Phoenix side but score-line
did not reflect game which was much closer than it appeared.
WEEKEND of Feb 11/12th
Three wins out of three. What a weekend! Capped by a brilliant comeback
from the Sunday side. Two down they fight back to win with a last minute
winner thanks to a Rabbit header. Firsts gain revenge over North Weald
for their recent cup defeat as Vinny and Ryan Hughes grab the goals
for a 2-0 victory. Reserves keep their fantastic run going scoring three
without reply against Potter Street Reserves.
WEEKEND of Feb 4/5th.
What a weekend! At the age of 39 Rabbit manages to 'get off the ground'-
according to eye-witnesses at the game who saw his goal. But great performance
from Sunday side to see us to victory over runaway leaders Chesterford
Villa. Brad Pammen scores great own goal in Firsts 1-1 draw with Birchanger.
Reserves keep storming on. Both sides head to The Stag for the first
time in years after the games.
WEEKEND of Jan 28/29th
Reserves had comfortable win against The Star despite fielding much
depleted side. Paul Crane leads the friont line and grabs one of the
goals. Some lenient refereeing in the first half changed in the second
when two straight red cards were shown after a confrontation between
Chris Rhodes and an opponent. Some fantastic late saves keep a clean
sheet.
Firsts go down in Bill Bruty Cup quarter final despite a Paul Vincent
goal at North Weald..
WEEKEND of Jan 21/22nd.
Jacko's return inspires Firsts to 2-1 win over Potter Street - keeps
them in with a chance of runners up spot. Ryan Hughes and Darren Cormack
grab the goals.
Reserves score three but go down to Matching in top of the table clash.
Sunday side get 2-2 draw away at Casuals & Pelham.
WEEKEND of Jan 14/15th.
60th anniversary dinner of Prisoner of War game
great success. Dick Garrard returned from Spain, Hazel Fleming (Jerrard)
and husband Larry from East Yorkshire. Ron 'Pudding' Jones gave speech
about memories of game. The "Hatfield Heath 3 Sheering 1"
sign makes a welcome re-appearance. Special thanks to Matt Danbury and
Nikki Lines for organising the raffle.
Bob Jerrard wins 'player of all-time' award and the 'clubman of all-time'
shared by Sugar Perry and Howard Pyle. Last of the stragglers leave
Countryman at 2am.
Over 50 guests enjoy great meal and lots of wine thanks to Tim Mascall
and Rabbit Lines.
On the field the Reserves grab last minute winner against lowly Frontiers
thanks to a Neil Churchill penalty. For the first team young Max Francis-Johnson
makes his first appearance since his horrific injury in a pre season
friendly and scores with his first touch as a second half sub.
Sunday side battle valiantly against Premier Divison Hatfields and its
1-1 with 25 mins to go but go down eventually 4-1.as
WEEKEND of Jan 8/9th 2006

died last week at the age of 76. Stan played in the title winning sides
of the 50s and was good enough to play three times for the county of
Essex - one of only three players in club history to achieve this feat.
His funeral will be at Harlow Crematorium at
11.30am on Tuesday and the club have arranged to send lowers and will
be represented at the service.
He died while watching his beloved Essex play

CHARLIE FRENCH CUP v SHEERING SAT SEPT 3rd. (W
4-3 on pens after 0-0 draw)
In the 11 year history of the Charlie French
trophy the most dramatic win yet. Two superb penalty saves from Dave
Pyle saw the Heath to victory in a penalty shoot-out.
The game was a tense affair with little between
the two sides. Dave Clayton and Aaron Collins starred for the Heath
in a tough end to end match which saw both teams spurn goal-scoring
opportunities.
But at the end of 90 mins it was 0-0 so it went to penalties.
Player manager Stewart Bull scored the first
followed by Matt Danbury and Danny Meadows. Dan Towler missed but Collins
scored the fifth. But the hero of the hour was Dave 'I've never won
a penalty shoot-out' Pyle with two great
saves. HEATH WIN THE CUP!
FOR IT'S A GRAND OLD TEAM TO PLAY FOR
The Vets game saw the Heath start with a very strong line-up with almost
every player still playing regularly. The 16 man squad included Mick
Briscoe at 51 as the eldest and Dave Pyle at 35 as the youngest. Full
squad: M Barnett, Bartram, Cowley, Das, Clayden, G Jones, Chinnery,
Hermitage, A Lines, Easton, Causton, Jackson, Tovee, Pyle, Briscoe,
Ventre.
Two early goals from Das saw the Heath off to a strong start before
a defensive lapse saw Paul Jordan pull a goal back for Sheering, But
goals from Mike Barnett - his first in a Heath shirt for 15 years and
Das again saw us through to a 4-1 half-time lead. After the break an
inspired performance at centre forward from Briscoe saw us press home
our advantage. Two goals from Stuart Cowley - his first for the Heath
since 1983!!! - made it six. Late goals from Manny Hermitage and Paul
'Tap in' Chinnery (a 30-yard screamer) made in eight. Sheering battled
well with good performances from Dougie Felton, Wayne Cracknell and
Glen Thurley. But the Heath's younger side were deserved victors.

a lacklustre performance before the ref called a halt to the action.
August 13/14. Two
good wins in first friendlies over the weekend.
Two goals from Spencer Bull helped the Heath pull off a 5-1 victory
over
a cricket club XI. But that only told half the story! The CC were 1-0
up
at half time and only a late burst of goals saw
a comfortable final score-line.
John Deamer made an appearance in goal and Danny Sweeney lasted the
full
90 minutes. Other scorers were Stewart Jackson and two own goals.
On Sunday seven separate scorers helped the side to an easy 7-3 victory
over Manuden. Brad Pammen, Jackson, 'West Ham', Turner, Fitch, Issako
and
Jackson were the scorers in a comfortable performance.
